Who I am

I'm Rebecca King ("I", "me", "my"), a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. This website, byrebeccaking.com, is my personal brand site for editorial services, free writing resources, and related offers.

If you use the Scrap writing app or waitlist on meet-scrap.com, that product has its own privacy policy on that site. This policy covers byrebeccaking.com only.

What I collect

Free resources / email signup: your email address and, if you share it, your first name — so I can send the resource you requested and occasional related updates from me.

Novel opening submissions: if you submit an opening for possible Instagram Reels, I collect your name, email, optional Instagram handle, details about your novel (title, genre, draft stage, a short description), the opening text itself, and your consent to public commentary. I use this to consider featuring the work, to email you about the submission, and to send related editorial updates.

Bookings: if you book a call (for example via Calendly), Calendly and I process the details you provide for that booking (typically name, email, and any answers you submit).

Website analytics: I use PostHog and Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how pages are used (for example visits and clicks). PostHog events from this site are tagged so they can be separated from Scrap product analytics that may share the same PostHog project.

Advertising / conversion measurement: I use the Pinterest Tag and Meta Pixel (plus Meta's Conversions API on the server for purchase and lead events) to measure visits and conversions (for example free-resource signups and purchases) and to build audiences for ads. Where you convert with an email address, a hashed version may be sent to advertising partners for attribution.

Technical data: standard server/hosting logs from Netlify (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) may be processed briefly as part of delivering the site.

How I use your data

I use your data to deliver the resource or service you asked for, reply to you, improve this website, and — where you've signed up for email — send related updates. I do not sell your personal data.

Service providers

I use Customer.io for email signup and messaging, PostHog and Google Analytics for website analytics, Pinterest and Meta for ad measurement and audiences (including Meta's server-side Conversions API), Netlify to host this site, and Calendly for scheduling where applicable. These providers process data on my behalf under their own policies and appropriate safeguards.

Retention

I keep email signup data while you remain subscribed or until you ask me to delete it. You can unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email, or email hello@rebeccaking.co.uk. Novel openings are kept while I may still feature or follow up on them, then deleted on request. Booking and enquiry correspondence is kept only as long as needed to deliver the service and meet basic record-keeping needs.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EEA, you can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO). To exercise your rights, email hello@rebeccaking.co.uk.

Cookies and local storage

This site may use cookies or local/session storage for essential site behaviour. With your consent, it may also use analytics cookies (PostHog and Google Analytics), advertising measurement (Pinterest Tag and Meta Pixel), and remembering marketing attribution (for example UTM parameters and Meta click ids from ad links) for the current browsing session when you sign up. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies via the banner on this site. Google Consent Mode keeps Google tags in a restricted state until you accept.
